RESERVATION DETAILS, IMPORTANT HOUSE INFO
The house will be unlocked on your day of arrival. Upon entering the house, you should find a house key on a ring on the hall tree behind the front door.
We have high-speed wireless internet available, access code is posted in the kitchen.
There is a quaint rear staircase which is steep and its steps are very narrow, so for your safety we require that everyone keep off these steps and do not let children play on them.
The house does NOT have an active phone, guests rely on their own cell phones.
My wife and I take care of the grounds and the house and usually stay in the guest cottage on premises.
The main house sits on a little over an acre has a large deck with grill, a three-vine arbor (wisteria, trumpet, and grape), a swimming pool and a partially fenced yard.
On your last day, before you leave, please clean the house according to the guidelines at the end of this note. Also, please leave the house unlocked and leave the key where you found it.
There are two gas fire places on the main level, both are vented and are not designed to heat the room, so please avoid leaving them on for extended periods of time, and make sure they are off while everyone is asleep.
PLEASE do not forget that smoking indoors is strictly prohibited. If you violate this policy, $100 will be deducted from your deposit refund to cover the cost of deodorizing the house. Smoking is permitted on the porches.
Here are some details about the house:
There is a 2-room master suite on the main level, which has a king bed, private bath, and a private sitting room with gas fireplace. The sitting room has an antique couch that folds down to make a small bed, larger than a twin but a bit smaller than a full size bed.
One of the two living rooms has a queen sleeper sofa and can be closed off with sliding doors for complete privacy.
There is a master BR on the second floor, which has a king bed.
There are 4 large BR on the second floor with queen beds.
There is one smaller BR on the second floor with a queen bed.
If you need additional sleeping space, you will find several air mattresses with built-in pumps, roll-away beds or cots.
There are four full bathrooms, two on the main level two on the second floor.
Both master suites have a private entrance to a bathroom so you control whether these baths are shared or private during your stay.
The kitchen in the main house is fully equipped, including a microwave and two Mr. Coffee makers (12-cup), and a blender. Stove top has 6 gas burners. There is a gas baking oven and separate electric broiler oven. It has a large double door refrigerator with ice maker. To avoid tripping circuit breakers, please limit electric load for electric appliances to 2 items running at the same time on the kitchen counter around the sink, and just use one item at a time in the downstairs master bath. Otherwise you're likely to trip a circuit breaker (the electric panels are in the basement)
Linens and towels are provided, there are towels to use at the pool rolled up and in a wine rack located in the laundry room behind the door to the outside.
Daily maid service can be arranged for an extra fee.
We have a washer and dryer and an extra refrigerator in our private work room. This is marked Private but adults are welcome to use the washer and dryer and extra refrigerator provided this has not been set up as a guest area. Therefore, for safety reasons, we appreciate your keeping it off limits to children.
For groceries and supplies, Carsons General Store is very close by, and so is Village Market. The closest larger grocery chains are Kroger and Food Lion, and there is also a Wal-Mart in Appomattox which is a 10 minutes drive from Concord Manor. These are all conveniently located just as you enter Appomattox on the left side of Highway 460.
On you deck you'll find a gas grill that uses propane gas. The tank must be turned on before using. PLEASE TURN OFF TANK after each use. Please be careful using the Grill.
The house has a single DishTV satellite receiver and a large flat screen TV in one of the living rooms.

Clean-up prior to DepartureOn the morning of your departure there are some specific things you could do that would help us tremendously:
1) load dirty dishes and start the dish washer 2) put all your trash in the large gray containers located across the driveway, 3) strip the dirty sheets and pillow cases from the beds and put them with your towels in the clothes basket located in your closet. 4) please put bed covers back neatly on the bed which helps us if we have to give a house tour before the cleaning crew arrives 5) please clean the grill for the next guest and make sure the gas has been turned off and the cover put back on. |
